The least-kept secret of what I love best about winter - SNOW!

“The first fall of snow is not only an event,
it is a magical event”

Snow.

I love snow.

At the first flakes I see falling, I call my Mom and we gleefully look outside, sharing the joy of winter's gift we've waited for all season. I cannot hide my excitement, nor my happiness, when our Spring-like city is covered in white for a while.

I love to walk in the snow. I love the crunchy-squinchy sound it makes under my boots. I didn't like it when I was a child, it grated like nails on a chalkboard, but I've grown to miss it and now glad don my old boots and crunch away while I can.

Snow Wonderful Snow!

Are you a snow lover?
Do you smile when you look outside and see the floating flakes fall under the glowing streetlights? Do you sigh with contentment as you venture outside into the cold, white world all bundled up tight with boots and mitts and scarf?
Do you cringe at that squeaking crunch the packed snow makes under your boot, but joyfully kick up balls of snow as you trudge down a covered snowy sidewalk?
Do you love how the blanket of snow brightens up the dark winter, almost causing daylight at night as the white is reflected all around?
Are you, like me, in love with snow?

True, there are, many annoyances and drawbacks from s big or small snowfall.
There is the problem of driving, getting from A to B to C and back again, travelling somewhere for the holidays or even just to the mall to pick up those last-minute Christmas gifts. There is all the shovelling and clearing of walkways and sidewalks and driveways and windshields.

And yet some of the best experiences are snow days off from school or work, the crisp air on your face and the warmth of your home when you dis-bundle yourself and dry off and my favourite thing of all...how Christmas lights look under or covered by or surrounded by white snow. They seem to glow brighter, reflecting the reds and blues and greens on the clumps of white that coxy in next to the bulbs. Every light display seems to be enhanced or revved up because of the snow that adds that extra Christmasy touch to their show.

As you can tell, I love snow. I love it when I'm inside, and I love it when I'm outside. I may not like it all year around, but for what we get here in Victoria, I love every moment!
Thanks, snow, for falling this year!

Santa, Snow and Searching

Yes, yes, I know alliteration is blasé, boring and better left behind, but as my title suggests I want to talk about my Christmas, show you some more snow photos and about my search for a home.

First of all - my Christmas holiday was fab-u-lous! I had a wonderful time with family and friends! We laughed, we relaxed, we ate (oh my, did we eat some lovely delicacies!) and we opened presents! Santa was ever so goooood to me! He even delivered a brand new guitar in a really cool and apparently indestructible case! How fun! I'll have to pull out my beginners chord book and relearn a thing or two.

One aspect of Christmas time that my family always loves to participate in is decorating - the house, the lights, the villages, the tree...oh my.
Here are a few photos of my tree, the lights in my living room and my miniature Christmas village.

My Village without a flash:

Village with flash, so you can see some details...

Here are a few photos of my house after the big snowfall a while ago:

I also wanted to update anyone who happens to read my blog that I am still in search of a suite to rent. The house I am renting is being sold so so and my little dog are in need of a 1 bedroom suite for rent for February or March 1st. If you know of anywhere, please send me a message. I would greatly appreciate it!

And hey, does anyone want to buy a cheap but nice comfy double bed or recliner?

Thanks! Have a peachy week!

Banquets and Boxes.

Well, the Saturday Night Live banquet was a smashing success! Lots of really funny skits, great food, lots of people, wonderful decorations...all in all a rockin evening. I did enjoy it, though I was a tad busy running around, figuring out video techie stuff....but it all worked out and I think everyone enjoyed the video clips.

Moving - yes, I have to move...AGAIN! I got the call last Sunday that my landlord is selling the house I rent so as of February I need to be living elsewhere. Arg! Ack! Ick!
So...does anyone know where I can live? Can I live with you? Please!?
I've been looking but it so difficult to find a place that allows pets (I have my small dog still...she's 12 and as much as I love her, I don't think she'll ever kick the bucket!). I've found a few prospects...so we'll see what turns up.
I dislike moving! Packing, cleaning, boxes and moving! Bleh!

I will need to sell a bunch of stuff....Hey would you like to purchase:
2 double beds
- a blue recliner (older but comfy and clean)
- a green faux leather rocker and rocking ottoman (modern and great!)
- a loveseat with a single hideabed (older but great!)
- a light brown couch with double hideabed (soft veloury feel)
- 2 dressers (1 tall and 1 long - blue and purple, but just ready for you to paint to taste)

I'll post photos later tonight.

Snow, Snow, Snow!

Snow
I walked in it.
I drove in it.
I had it in my hair.
I shovelled it.
I smiled at it.
Snow, snow, snow everywhere!
