Storyline and Portland(ia)

Have you ever heard of the Storyline Conference?
If you haven't, then just wait about 2 weeks and I'm sure I'll have a review up here for you.

Why?

Well, I'll tell you why: In just a few short days I am headed down to a city I've never visited, Portland, Oregon, with two good friends to attend Donald Miller's Storyline Conference!

I've been keeping an eye on this conference for a couple years now and finally I feel led to get up and GO experience it!

Donald Miller has written some great books that I highly recommend: Blue Like Jazz and A Million Miles for a Thousand Years.
BLJ was actually just released as a movie and this year at the Portland Storyline we get to go see it.  (I saw a rough cut last summer at the Echo Conference in Dallas TX and I can't wait to see the finished film!)

I also regularly read Donald Miller's blog and the author himself even tweeted me back last week! (Silly but fun, nonetheless!)

* Oh, and here's an awesome link to get to know Donald Miller a little better.

Some reasons or benefits for me getting to this event:
  1. It's in Portland, a city I've never been to but always wanted to visit. (Put a bird on it!)
  2. It's all about looking at and planning your life.
  3. But it's not a boring, "Christian-ese" type conference, it's young and interesting.
  4. It's created by and run by an author I have come to respect, Donald Miller.
  5. It's seems suited to exactly where I am right now, or perhaps where I am not.
  6. It follows planning your life in a create way like an author would plan out a story.
  7. I have the chance to have an awesome road trip (bonus!) with two great friends!
If those aren't all good, great or amazing reasons, then knock me down and call me crazy!

I am very excited about this trip! So excited, in fact, that I've chosen to try and sell my Coldplay tickets (I know! I must be crazy!) rather than try to do everything. However, it's two days before the Coldplay concert over in Vancouver and I have yet to sell said tickets....soooo I may just have to go to both. Oh well!

Hey, if you have any favourite places, or shops, or stops in or around Portland that you think we should make or take, please let me know. Comment here or message me. I'd love some ideas!

Lately I've been feeling a little stuck-in-the-middle of life and not sure what I can do to further the skills I've been given. The approach this conference takes sounds just like something I can relate to and possibly shake my world up a bit.

Please pray for us, that we stay safe on the roads as we travel, but also please pray that we get the most out of this event and something great will be reveled to us about what is around the next bend in the road.

PS - I'm trying to get out of my non-blogging slump, so keep checking back for more posts and photos and reviews and more!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Write a review! :) I went to the Storyline Conference in Nashville and was Google searching for some Storyline articles when your blog popped up. Would love to hear how the Portland one went and how your follow-up on the exercises is going! :) Jill
