Yes, I have always been a dog-person. Ever since I can remember I have loved dogs, wanted one or many dogs, I even used to read dog encyclopedias as a child! Yes, I was that kid.
I do love all animals and have had many, many different types of pets & animals under my care - from cows to horses to turtles to gerbils and hamsters, salamanders to garter snakes and canaries and budgies, endless amounts of fish, cats and of course dogs.
Yet, dogs are and always will be, my favourite companions.
On our farm in Alberta I barely remember a puppy named Lucky. We only had her a short time before either she ran away, or (as we think more likely) she was snatched up from the end of our driveway.
My parents then got me a little black lab-cross pup I named Buffy. Though I was still quite young, I loved that dog until we had to move a while later and send her to a new home.
Years passed and many pets passed through my care until finally one Christmas my parents surprised me and my family with a cute little puppy tied with a red bow right on Christmas morning!
That was my beloved Sophie. A true and lovely scruffy terrier who lit up my life for almost 15 years. She literally grew up with me and even gave us the joy (and craziness) of having a litter of 'whoopsie' puppies. The hardest thing I have ever had to do was decide to let her rest from her aging pains.
I lasted for three months before I began looking for a new dog to enter my world.

Willow the Westie (3-6 Months)
Just a quick update with some photos
and a bit of video of my Westie puppy, Willow.
She was 6 months old on February 15th and is growing and learning fast and well!
She can sit, shake both paws, roll over, lie down, step nicely into her harness, walks well and loves to play with anyone or any dog!
Her favourite things right now are: ice cubes, vanilla yoghurt, my Dad, and Buddy, the Upstairs Dog.
She still is working on: not jumping up, coming when called (works almost every time!), staying on command and she is almost totally house-trained...only one or two slip ups this last month.
I love her to bits and she is a great little friend to have around!!
Almost 3 months old...exploring a basket.
She loves lying in front of the fireplace, soaking up the heat.
Posing on my bed.
I asked her to Sit so I could snap a photo and she curled up between my feet!
Sweet sleepy puppy.
Being silly and jumping up while I was trying to take a photo.
Sooooo dirty and muddy after a great playtime on Dallas Road with her doggy friends.
All white and fluffy after her bath!!
Sitting all cute waiting to go outside - 6 months old.
And here is a bit of video I had from the past few months. She keeps me pretty busy that I always forget to take my camera along with me for some new photos or video clips.
Watch for one of her regular Dallas Road friends, Trigger!

Willow the wiggly Westie!
Willow is now 9+ weeks and is settling into her new life.
She is getting a bit feisty, likes to bite our feet and hands, but hopefully she'll soon learn that those are not toys.
She has learned "Sit" and "Down" and is pretty good with "Come".
She sleeps through the night in her kennel and is pretty well paper-trained and is starting to learn how to tell me she needs to go outside.
She has also discovered my warm fireplace and likes to bathe in the warm orange glow.
